Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Newcastle Area Manager, this position is instrumental in expanding Boral Asphalt's presence in Northern New South Wales. The Estimator will collaborate with operational teams across Newcastle, Dubbo, and Coffs Harbour to identify tender opportunities, produce precise and competitive cost estimates, manage tender pipelines, and help secure profitable contracts within local government, state government, and civil contracting sectors.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and monitor tender opportunities via procurement platforms and industry connections.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, tender submissions, and pricing proposals for asphalt and civil construction projects.
- Maintain a comprehensive tender tracker to oversee and advance opportunities effectively.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents to evaluate scope, risks, and pricing requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Operations teams to ensure estimates align with delivery needs and operational capacity.
- Develop pricing strategies focused on fostering business growth and profitability.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients including local councils, government bodies, and civil contractors.
- Support expansion of Boral's presence across Newcastle, Dubbo, Coffs Harbour, and wider Northern NSW regions.
- Participate in tender reviews, contract evaluations, and project handovers.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in estimating, tendering, or project engineering within asphalt, roads, civil construction, infrastructure, or contracting sectors.
- A solid grasp of asphalt contracting and project delivery, or relevant transferable experience from civil construction.
- Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- A self-driven individual capable of prioritizing multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with estimating software; experience with Benchmark is a plus but not mandatory.
- Valid Driver's License and readiness to travel within the region as needed.
