Overview
POWERCHINA Jiangxi Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd - Dubai Branch seeks skilled Electrical Secondary Design Engineers specializing in Protection & Control. The roles support high voltage and extra high voltage substation projects throughout the UAE, Middle East, and Africa.
Key Duties
- Conduct secondary engineering design and Protection & Control tasks for HV/EHV AIS and GIS substations.
- Create and review protection single line diagrams, Protection & Control schematics, AC/DC wiring diagrams, termination plans, interlocking logic, and trip matrices.
- Compile I/O and signal listings, secondary equipment schedules, and control cable schedules.
- Perform relay setting computations, protection coordination and selectivity analyses, and appropriately size CTs and VTs.
- Design protection schemes for transformers, feeders, busbars, lines, and cables.
- Evaluate designs of control and relay panels.
- Coordinate system integration with SCADA, RTU, BCU, intelligent electronic devices, and teleprotection components.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and testing protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Engineering, or equivalent fields.
- At least 5 years of experience in secondary design and Protection & Control of HV/EHV substations.
- Robust understanding of protection schemes, relay settings, CT/VT functions, and control circuit configuration.
- Practical experience with digital relays from Siemens, Hitachi Energy/ABB, Schneider Electric, or GE.
- Proficiency in relay engineering software tools such as ETAP, DIGSI, PCM600, or similar.
- Capable of independently preparing secondary equipment and control cable schedules.
- Familiarity with IEC and IEEE standards.
- Fluent in English communication.
Preferred Attributes
- Knowledge of the IEC 61850 communication protocol.
- Experience working with 132kV, 220kV, or 400kV AIS/GIS substations.
- Background in UAE or GCC utilities or EPC projects.
- Familiarity with requirements from major utility companies or consultants within the GCC.
