Electrical LV Switchgear Estimator

Job Overview

Modutech Switchgear Ltd is seeking a skilled Electrical LV Switchgear Estimator to spearhead the preparation of precise, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimations for low-voltage switchgear projects. This position involves overseeing the full estimation process, collaborating closely with engineering and sales teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality bids.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the entire estimation cycle for LV switchgear projects from start to finish.
• Examine client specifications, drawings, and tender documents to ascertain project requirements.
• Compile thorough cost estimates covering materials, labor, engineering, and overhead expenses.
• Collaborate with design, procurement, and project teams to verify both technical and commercial information.
• Evaluate project risks and advantages to enhance pricing strategies effectively.
• Maintain and update a comprehensive database consisting of costs, supplier information, and previous project data.
• Engage with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive price quotations.
• Ensure all estimates comply with relevant standards including IEC, BS, ANSI, and local regulations.
• Participate actively in bid reviews, client discussions, and technical clarifications.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimation engineers and team members.
• Drive continuous improvements in estimation methodologies, templates, and tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical switchgear estimation or similar electrical estimating roles.
• Deep knowledge of LV switchgear systems, panels, and components.
• Proven background with large-scale tendering and bidding activities.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC and ANSI.
• Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

• Exposure to international projects involving multi-country standards is a plus.

Organizational Structure

• Reports directly to the Head of Engineering or the Commercial Manager.
• Responsible for mentoring and supervising estimation engineers and junior estimators.

Work Setting

• Primarily office-based with occasional visits to sites and client meetings.
• May require extended working hours during critical bid submission periods.
