Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an EHS Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of our environmental, health, and safety management frameworks. This position involves ensuring compliance with both local and international standards, reducing workplace safety and health risks, promoting sustainability, and protecting employee welfare and company resources.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain the company’s EHS management system with ongoing improvements, including producing and updating safety procedures, emergency response strategies, and policy documents.
- Perform workplace risk assessments and hazard evaluations, creating and monitoring corrective action plans to guarantee closure.
- Manage EHS training initiatives such as safety orientation for new staff, specialized skill training, and emergency preparedness exercises; maintain documentation of training and certifications.
- Oversee environmental compliance by tracking emissions and waste handling; engage in environmental impact evaluations and promote energy efficiency, emission mitigation, and pollution control measures.
- Lead investigations for incidents and accidents, perform root cause analyses, and develop corrective and preventive actions; coordinate emergency response drills and activities.
- Establish and monitor EHS performance metrics; compile data, generate reports, and communicate progress to leadership regularly.
- Maintain active communication with regulators, industry bodies, and external organizations; stay updated on compliance requirements and ensure adherence.
- Support EHS management related to international projects or branches by adjusting for local regulations, conducting audits, and offering technical advice.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline is required.
Experience: At least three years managing EHS programs within manufacturing, electronics, chemical, energy, or similar sectors. Experience handling overseas EHS projects or multinational EHS operations is advantageous, as is knowledge of global EHS standards.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management frameworks; internal auditor certification is beneficial. Skilled in risk assessment methodologies such as JSA and HAZOP, hazard identification, safety training delivery, emergency management, and incident investigation. Capable of independently preparing EHS documentation, reports, and conducting data analysis.
Soft Skills: Effective communication and coordination across departments, international teams, and external entities. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting. Proficient written and verbal English; Chinese language skills are a plus for China-related operations. Demonstrates responsibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement drive.
