Job description
Position Overview
This role involves comprehensive management and oversight of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols on site, ensuring compliance with international standards and promoting a secure working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain all EHS documentation including plans for EHS, emergency response, and risk assessments.
- Participate actively in all EHS meetings involving clients and project teams.
- Report EHS-related concerns to the head office promptly.
- Provide EHS induction and ongoing training to new employees and site workers.
- Perform regular daily EHS site inspections within assigned zones.
- Verify that engineers and supervisors obtain proper safety permits from clients or main contractors before work commences.
- Conduct continuous risk assessments throughout the site, notifying site engineers and clients of any high-risk areas identified.
- Ensure weekly delivery of toolbox talks by engineers to raise EHS awareness among workers.
- Monitor that all personnel adhere to personal protective equipment requirements, including helmets, safety shoes, and coveralls.
- Inspect equipment such as ladders and scaffolding to guarantee they are safe for use.
- Maintain suitable health and hygiene standards onsite, ensuring adequate water supply, rest areas, lighting, and ventilation.
- Oversee housekeeping practices on the project site to minimize accidents and incidents.
- Conduct job-specific EHS analyses for high-risk activities to reduce hazards.
- Encourage proactive adoption of EHS practices by workers and engineers.
- Carry out incident investigations alongside engineers for both minor and major cases, communicating findings for preventative measures.
- Provide first-aid or arrange medical care promptly in the event of worker injuries.
- Keep comprehensive records of all EHS activities and audits.
- Implement and oversee an enhanced integrated health, safety, and environment management system aligned with ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Conduct training programs on EHS topics both onsite and in HR-organized sessions.
- Perform hazard identification and risk assessments for critical tasks, integrating results into method statements.
- Prepare EHS and environmental management plans tailored to the project.
- Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party equipment inspections.
- Develop emergency preparedness plans and facilitate emergency drills.
- Support and enforce the work permit system to ensure safety compliance.
- Manage occupational health and welfare initiatives.
- Define EHS-related contract conditions for subcontractors.
- Stop work immediately upon observing unsafe practices, fostering an active safety culture that encourages intervention.
- Conduct monthly risk management audits and quarterly system audits of projects.
- Report EHS performance status regularly to project and IC heads to maintain transparency and continuous improvement.
