Job description
Role Overview
As a Dispatcher at Jadeer Logistics based in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of driving personnel and third-party service providers ensuring smooth outbound and inbound shipment operations. Your responsibilities include organizing shipments following established routes for both local and offshore deliveries, prioritizing tasks, and scheduling deliveries to align with business and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze routing trends and shipment frequencies to assist in cost management for local and offshore deliveries.
- Recommend improvements to routing strategies and related software applications including ERP systems, road maps, GPS tracking, real-time monitoring, and route adjustments.
- Evaluate delivery orders to determine optimal routes and fleet allocation based on destination, shipment size, customer time requirements, and technical factors.
- Manage driver and vehicle productivity by ensuring full loads per truck and minimizing dependency on third-party drivers.
- Assign trucks to routes considering shipment volume and equipment available.
- Create effective picking routes for warehouse, yard, or terminal staff to optimize loading operations.
- Keep daily dispatch logs documenting start times, drivers, route numbers, and material handling equipment utilized for each delivery truck.
- Maintain an updated road network database containing customer locations, time windows, and pertinent delivery information.
- Investigate client complaints related to lost, damaged, or short shipments, determining responsibility and recording findings in the Daily Delivery Report (DDR).
- Schedule shipments adhering to On-Time Delivery (OTD) policies ensuring regulations are enforced.
- Conduct occasional ride-alongs with drivers to assess delivery areas, verify accuracy, and uphold high customer service standards.
- Perform routine filing and record maintenance to support operational efficiency.
- Prepare Daily Delivery Reports highlighting deviations such as missed, damaged, or corrupted shipments and analyze fleet performance metrics.
- Participate in management meetings as required and undergo regular performance evaluations by your line manager.
- Complete additional related tasks assigned by management.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Certificate or equivalent minimum education.
- Valid local driving license.
Experience
- At least 2 to 3 years of practical experience in distribution and transportation, preferably in a logistics environment.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, and distribution processes.
- Proficiency in utilizing computerized systems, including ERP software and digital road maps.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service consistently.
- Effective prioritization and clear communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
- Understanding of transportation concepts and methods for optimizing operational processes.
