We are searching for a skilled and visionary Director to head our Common AI Capabilities Engineering team.
Department Context
This role falls under the Emerging Technology division, specifically within the Group Emerging Technology, Innovation and Ventures (ETIV) team, which is focused on pioneering innovation in banking technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and drive the long-term technical vision and development roadmap for the Agent Framework in partnership with product management.
- Oversee the architectural design and build of a robust, scalable, and efficient Agent Framework that serves as a critical foundation for agent-based applications bank-wide.
- Monitor industry advancements in AI and agent systems to ensure the framework leverages the latest technological trends.
- Collaborate closely with technology divisions across various business lines to understand their needs and enable efficient agent development.
- Integrate the Agent Framework seamlessly into the Group AI Platform that operates across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
- Lead and develop a global, high-performing team including machine learning subject matter experts and full stack engineers to create fit-for-purpose AI capabilities.
- Implement and uphold engineering best practices such as CI/CD pipelines, automation testing frameworks, and comprehensive monitoring to ensure continuous improvement.
- Drive performance optimization, reliability enhancements, and observability for the Agent Framework in production settings.
- Ensure all development aligns with architectural principles, security standards, technical guidelines, and software development lifecycle protocols.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of software development experience, including over 5 years in a technical leadership capacity.
- Direct hands-on experience with the design and deployment of agentic AI solutions.
- Proven track record building and delivering large-scale Agent Frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of agent paradigms such as planning, memory systems (short-term and long-term), tool utilization, orchestration, and evaluation.
- Experience working with both high-code and low-code agent frameworks.
- Strong expertise designing and implementing scalable and resilient platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performance teams comprising AI specialists and full stack engineers.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java and Python, alongside skills in CI/CD, automated testing, and system observability.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly communicate AI capabilities and influence business and technology leaders effectively.
- Experienced in Agile development environments, fostering strong collaboration and teamwork.
