Role Overview

As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide individualized support to persons with developmental disabilities, fostering independence both at home and in community settings.

Typical Duties

  • Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and transportation
  • Encourage involvement in social and recreational community activities including shopping and events
  • Help clients pursue personal objectives and celebrate their achievements
  • Support choice-making, independence, and self-advocacy skills
  • Maintain detailed records of care, activities, and client progress
  • Collaborate with care teams to ensure consistent and high-quality support

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clear background check and completion of required training
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary)
  • Ability to work safely and respectfully within clients’ homes and community environments
  • Demonstrated compassion, dependability, and motivation to positively impact others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism
  • Familiarity using behavior support strategies such as redirection, visual cues, and environmental adjustments

Additional Information
