Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to join our Sydney-based team on a permanent basis. The position demands expertise in cloud computing, deployment automation, and maintaining production systems within regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities and Expertise
- Deliver comprehensive DevOps and platform engineering solutions with a minimum of nine years of relevant experience.
- Handle AWS cloud services including EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and RDS/Aurora proficiently.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and manage release orchestration using GitLab SaaS.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code via Terraform and manage configurations with tools such as Ansible.
- Administer Linux environments and write shell scripts using Bash and Python for system automation and management.
- Support mission-critical applications ensuring reliability and compliance within regulated settings.
- Manage deployment methodologies, change control processes, environment setup, and release governance effectively.
- Establish monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks coupled with incident handling mechanisms.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning application layers, databases, infrastructure, and network components.
- Utilize secrets management solutions like HashiCorp Vault to safeguard credentials and sensitive data.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations, Security, and Architecture to achieve unified objectives.
Preferable Additional Skills
- Experience with capital markets platforms such as Calypso or trading, clearing, collateral, and risk management systems.
- Familiarity with database migrations from Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration along with cloud-native deployment approaches.
- Exposure to observability platforms including OpenTelemetry, Grafana, ELK stack, and Splunk.
- Experience performing database automation, managing schema migrations with Liquibase, and employing configuration management for databases.
- Understanding of financial services infrastructure and regulated technology environments.
- Involvement with test automation and quality engineering rooted in DevOps principles.
- Appreciation of ITIL frameworks encompassing Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
- Proven ability contributing to large scale cloud migration and platform modernization projects.
