Job description
Role Overview
This position is part of the IT Operations Division within the Infrastructure Services Management Team, focusing on critical database environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and maintain database systems including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL (with pgvector) to support essential banking functions.
- Implement high availability configurations such as Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On, and PostgreSQL HA solutions.
- Enhance database efficiency, security, and uptime through ongoing monitoring and optimization efforts.
- Design and execute backup and restoration plans to guarantee data safety and operational resilience.
- Work collaboratively across IT departments to ensure smooth integration of database systems with applications and infrastructure.
- Regularly assess and patch database vulnerabilities and perform system updates.
- Automate routine database maintenance to streamline operations.
- Maintain adherence to data privacy laws and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of practical experience managing Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases (including pgvector) within financial or equally critical sectors.
- Relevant certifications for Oracle, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise with Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On, and PostgreSQL high availability implementations.
- In-depth knowledge of database security protocols, performance tuning, and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl and familiarity with automation tools for databases.
- Strong analytical abilities and capability to perform effectively in high-pressure, dynamic settings.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey technical information.
- Awareness of DevOps methodologies and related tooling.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks like CIS security baselines and Government IM8 standards.
- Experience with additional database technologies such as MySQL and Yugabyte.
- Competency in deploying and handling databases hosted on AWS infrastructure.
