Job description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our database systems. The role involves working closely with project teams to maintain database availability and functionality, optimize performance, and implement robust data security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database software and related technologies.
  • Monitor and enhance database performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Set up database backups and disaster recovery processes.
  • Resolve database issues through root cause analysis.
  • Implement and enforce data security policies and procedures in compliance with privacy standards.
  • Manage database access controls and permissions, identifying and mitigating security risks.
  • Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas for scalability and performance.
  • Maintain documentation and standards for database systems.
  • Create and manage database users and roles, overseeing access permissions.
  • Conduct database upgrades and patch applications to maintain system stability.
  • Configure replication and clustering to support high availability environments.
  • Analyze and fine-tune database queries and indexes to address performance bottlenecks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in database management systems such as SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Strong knowledge of data security principles and best practices.
  • Proven experience improving product performance through database schema modifications, logical and physical data organization (e.g., partitioning), tuning, and configuration adjustments.
  • Hands-on experience with failover mechanisms like clustering, mirroring, and Availability Groups, including disaster recovery exercises for critical databases.
  • Experience with MongoDB administration is advantageous.
  • Proficient in SSRS report development and SSIS/ETL processes.
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are desirable.
