About the Role
Join the Infrastructure and Assets Group at Hamilton City Council, dedicated to delivering robust infrastructure and services for the community's present and future prosperity. As the Portfolio Office Data, Systems and Reporting Team Lead, you will guide a highly skilled team responsible for converting complex portfolio, program, and financial data into actionable insights that drive the capital program's development and execution. This hands-on leadership role involves coaching and supporting specialists to foster strong capabilities, high performance, and a positive culture to produce excellent outcomes.
In this role, reporting to the Head of Portfolio Office, you will oversee the management and integrity of capital financial and P3M data through the Psoda platform. You will spearhead the advancement of portfolio analytics, reporting, and data visualizations that increase transparency around performance, aid Long Term Plan investment choices, and reinforce governance and controls. Additionally, you will prioritize tasks, eliminate obstacles, and create an enabling environment for your team to thrive and deliver organizational value.
Responsibilities
Lead a dynamic team to transform intricate data into insightful reports supporting portfolio decisions. Manage the integrity and quality of capital program and financial data through specialized tools. Drive enhancements in portfolio analytics and visualization to support governance. Guide team members' development, set priorities, and remove impediments to achieving high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Management, Business, Software Engineering, or Accounting.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Minimum 5 years experience owning product development for project or program management (PPM) tools.
- Proven system stewardship including configuration, workflow design, enhancements, integrations, support, and training.
- Strong analytical skills handling large, complex datasets, including multi-year financial data.
- Knowledge of data architecture, data modelling, and governance principles.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and data analysis.
- Proficient meeting facilitation and confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and high motivation.
- Experience in local government preferred.
- Financial and quality management knowledge.
Additional Information
Salary: Approximately $135,000 to $140,000 annually depending on experience and skills.

Minimum education
