The Data Privacy Architect leads the design and enforcement of privacy controls aligning with worldwide privacy and AI regulations. This role bridges legal and technical domains by embedding privacy principles throughout the entire data lifecycle: collection, usage, storage, sharing, and deletion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and uphold privacy-by-design frameworks across the platform, ensuring remediation of non-compliant architecture through governance.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and data flow analyses, translating compliance mandates into implementable technical requirements.
- Act as the principal expert interpreting data privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, FedRAMP, and EU AI Act, guiding technology decisions with regulatory insight.
- Define and supervise standards for data classification, retention, anonymization, and deletion, reviewing system services to verify compliance.
- Lead the privacy and regulatory architecture for AI components, covering both in-house and third-party models in adherence to emerging AI regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Engineering teams to implement data access governance, maintain architectural documentation for audits, and ensure regulatory alignment.
- Advance data lineage and observability tools to support privacy impact assessments and accountability requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive background in data privacy, security, or platform architecture, with proven skill in translating privacy regulations into operational architecture.
- Deep understanding of GDPR and privacy-by-design principles applied within complex technology ecosystems.
- Experience leading DPIAs and data flow mapping, successfully identifying privacy risks and specifying technical controls.
- Solid knowledge of data lifecycle practices including classification, retention, anonymization/tokenization, deletion, and secure data transmission.
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud environments, data storage solutions, and Identity and Access Management (IAM), especially relating to privacy and security.
- Proven collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (Engineering, Security, Legal, Compliance, Risk) to convert privacy policies into viable technical safeguards.
- Capability to lead and critically evaluate architectural and engineering designs to ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory standards.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of global frameworks beyond GDPR, such as CCPA and FedRAMP.
- Familiarity with the EU AI Act and novel AI governance regulations.
- Designing privacy controls for AI and machine learning systems including both proprietary and external models.
- Understanding AI-specific privacy risks, including training data governance and the handling of personal data during model development and inference.
- Experience developing data lineage and observability solutions to facilitate regulatory audits and assessments.
- Practical expertise with cloud data services like AWS S3, Redshift, Snowflake, or counterparts.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPT, CIPP/E, CISSP, and AWS or Azure cloud certifications.
Employee Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements including hybrid schedules, remote options, and access to a modern Galway office.
- Opportunities for professional growth via continuous learning, mentoring, and clear career pathways.
- Competitive pension plan supported by the employer.
- Annual performance-based bonus scheme.

- Financial protection options including income protection, life insurance, and financial planning services.
- Family support policies offering paid maternity and paternity leave.
