Role Summary
We are seeking a Data Engineer to optimize data workflows and provide critical insights through Stars Analytics aimed at simplifying decision-making for members and reducing healthcare expenses. Your expertise will drive enhancements that lower healthcare costs and promote healthier living. This role involves exploring advanced big data platforms and crafting novel engineering solutions to complex healthcare challenges.
Work Arrangement
The position supports a hybrid working model within Ireland, allowing flexibility to split time between our Dublin or Letterkenny offices and remote telecommuting.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL data pipelines ensuring accurate transfer of data to centralized analytics platforms.
- Integrate diverse data sources including databases, APIs, logs, streaming platforms, and third-party data to construct a comprehensive data foundation.
- Execute data cleansing, normalization, aggregation, and transformation processes to prepare datasets for analytics, reporting, and machine learning.
- Contribute to establishing and improving standardized frameworks for code development, deployment, automation, and orchestration of data pipelines.
- Enforce data governance policies compliant with corporate standards.
- Oversee real-time monitoring and troubleshooting of data pipelines to uphold data reliability and system performance, including development of alerting and error handling mechanisms.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building complex data pipelines with a strong foundation in software engineering concepts.
- Proven capability to diagnose and resolve intricate issues involving large-scale datasets comprising billions of records.
- Advanced skills in SQL, proficient with window functions and other specialized SQL features.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices including Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
- Effective collaboration skills for working with technical and business personnel during requirement gathering and solution design.
- Proficiency in Python for developing a variety of applications including data pipelines, APIs, automation scripts, and analytical tools.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience using Snowflake or Databricks platforms.
- Knowledge of relational data modeling and OLAP processing techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and best practices in cloud-based data pipelines.
- Exposure to Airflow or comparable orchestration software.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum project frameworks.
- Skills in shell scripting.
- Understanding of managing both real-time and batch data processing and selecting appropriate approaches.
Eligibility and Compliance
