Job description

Role Overview

This position involves managing daily operations and upkeep of various facility systems at StarHub's Data Centres and office locations. Key systems include Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), DC Rectifier Systems, Static Transfer Switches (STS), Fire Protection, Building Management Systems, HT/LT electrical, and ACMV systems.

Key Duties

  • Perform regular maintenance according to scheduled plans and service contracts.
  • Organize, assess tenders and oversee projects related to facility expansion to meet user needs.
  • Enforce stringent physical and electronic security protocols using systems like card access, CCTV, and visitor tracking.
  • Execute customer work orders within requested Ready for Service (RFS) deadlines.
  • Maintain and update mechanical, electrical, building and schematic documentation for all managed estates and facilities.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections, initiate corrective actions to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage lease agreements including new leases and renewals for offices, shops, and technical sites.
  • Engage with property owners for negotiations, manage Letters of Intent, agreements, and related administrative responsibilities.
  • Coordinate regularly with business units and monitor prevailing industry rental rates.
  • Collaborate with authorities to ensure lease compliance and with internal teams (Legal, Finance, Business Units) regarding lease modifications, fees, and property taxes.
  • Manage tenant relations in StarHub-owned properties including generating billing invoices.
  • Ensure timely property handovers and takeovers with building owners.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies.
  • Be available for 24/7 standby duties to promptly handle and resolve disruptions.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Telecommunications, or Facilities Management.
  • At least 2 years experience, preferably 2-3 years in facilities operations and maintenance within a Data Centre context.
  • New diploma graduates with enthusiasm and readiness to work in a start-up environment are also encouraged.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining facility and building systems.
  • Must possess a Class 3 manual driving license.
  • Basic understanding of networking, broadband access, and structured cabling is advantageous.
  • Computer proficient, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to manage and supervise contractors effectively.
  • Experience configuring network elements such as switches and CPE devices is a plus.
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive mindset and resilience to challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting at all organizational levels, especially with end customers.
  • Strong work ethic, able to work independently under limited supervision and pressure.
  • Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, multitasking ability, and service orientation.
  • Team-oriented with solid communication and problem-solving skills.
