Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician responsible for maintaining optimal operation and rapid issue resolution for electrical and mechanical infrastructure within data centers. The role focuses on systems including UPS, medium voltage electrical systems, generators, and cooling equipment. This hands-on position demands an individual who is self-driven, proactive, and capable of addressing complex technical challenges routinely through site interventions, switching operations, troubleshooting, and repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Championing safety protocols and fostering an exemplary safety culture throughout all operational tasks.
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives by standardizing procedures and policies to improve infrastructure performance.
• Supporting operational teams to ensure uninterrupted availability of critical infrastructure supporting customers.
• Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to guarantee operational excellence for AWS clients.
• Planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules for critical facility systems compliant with corporate procedures.
• Monitoring and supervising facility systems through tools such as BMS and PMS, in addition to routine walkthrough inspections.
• Contributing to data center build-out projects and infrastructure retrofits.
• Preparing the organization for prompt and appropriate reactions to potential customer-impacting events concerning electrical or mechanical components.
• Reviewing incidents, compiling trend reports, and providing recommendations and updates to management.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including method statements, SOPs, emergency response procedures, and maintenance programs.

Physical and Work Environment

• Operate on a 24/7 schedule as required.
• Work at heights and use ladders when necessary.
• Engage in physically demanding tasks throughout shifts.
• Function in noisy environments, utilizing ear protection.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical theory and key competencies.
• Must be a citizen of an EU member state.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in data center engineering operations.
• Familiarity with mechanical and HVAC systems and controls.
• Proficiency in German language at B2 level or higher.
