Custodian 2026-2027 (Open Pool)

Job Summary

The Custodian's primary responsibility is to maintain the school's physical facilities in excellent operational condition, ensuring they are fully usable for educational purposes at all times.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude and ability to perform assigned custodial tasks effectively.
  
• Possession of a valid Mississippi driver's license is preferred.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Building Principal or their designee.
Does not supervise any personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the building and its surroundings including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas.
• Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture and window sills regularly.
• Clean corridors after the school day or as needed throughout the day.
• Disinfect and clean toilet floors, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily, including scrubbing and hosing down surfaces.
• Regularly clean windows and glass surfaces, both inside and outside.
• Keep the grounds free of rubbish and perform necessary tasks to ensure a safe and attractive school environment.
• Properly care for and maintain tools and equipment.
• Adhere strictly to safety codes and regulations.
• Demonstrate punctuality and reliable attendance consistently.
• Support and uphold the Hattiesburg Public School District's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Employment

Salary and working year details are determined by the Board of Trustees.

Evaluation

Performance evaluations are conducted annually.
