This full-time position is based on-site at a farm located in Buyende district, Eastern Uganda. The Farm Worker will engage in daily agricultural activities essential for crop production, including field preparation, planting, irrigation, weeding, and harvesting. Duties also involve operating and maintaining basic farming machinery and tools. Employees must adhere to safety protocols, report any crop or equipment issues promptly, and collaborate with supervisors to ensure production goals are met. The role requires commitment to early mornings, potential weekend shifts, and seasonal overtime as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Knowledgeable in the safe use and upkeep of farm equipment and tools.
- Practical experience in crop cultivation and general farm labor.
- Basic understanding of farm operations, seasonal changes, and safety standards.
- Capable of performing physically strenuous activities, including lifting heavy items and standing outdoors for long durations.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to follow precise instructions and protocols.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills to maintain records; prior agricultural work experience is advantageous.
- Open to learning new farming techniques and committed to health, safety, and animal welfare practices.
Additional Details
The compensation for this role is 150,000 UGX per month, which includes housing and food provisions. Preference is given to single men due to the physical demands and living arrangements on the farm, which is situated approximately 300 meters from the nearest houses. However, women or candidates with small families who can meet these conditions are also welcome to apply.
Applicants from rural areas, particularly those outside the central region or from the Busoga region, are preferred. The company seeks trustworthy, hardworking individuals.
