About the Role
We invite you to join as a Contracts Specialist where you will significantly contribute to the commercial management of one of Australia's prominent marine infrastructure projects. Your duties will include managing subcontract packages efficiently, ensuring contract compliance, and supporting the overall commercial delivery in close collaboration with commercial and project management teams.
Project Overview
This position supports the Darwin Ship Lift Facility project commissioned by the Northern Territory Government at the Port of Darwin's East Arm precinct. The project includes constructing a ship lift with a 5,500-tonne capacity, wet berths, and hardstand areas to facilitate maintenance of Defence, Australian Border Force, and commercial vessels.

Core Responsibilities
- Manage assigned subcontract packages ensuring compliance with project and company standards.
- Assist with subcontract tendering processes including evaluation and negotiation for selection and award.
- Support the development and application of strategic subcontracting approaches.
- Evaluate and process subcontractor progress claims and payment assessments.
- Facilitate preparation and handling of contract variations, claims, and time extensions.
- Monitor subcontractor adherence to contractual obligations and performance benchmarks.
- Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and cost control procedures for assigned contracts.
- Provide commercial and contractual support to relevant project stakeholders.
- Engage in risk and opportunity assessments pertinent to the subcontract packages.
- Handle resolution of commercial issues and disputes with subcontractors.
- Foster productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification, such as Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, or Economics, is preferred.
- A minimum of three years' experience in roles related to contract administration, contract advising, or commercial advisory within EPC, infrastructure, resources, or large construction projects.
- Proven expertise in managing subcontractor and vendor contracts.
- Strong grasp of contract administration principles, claims management, variations, and commercial processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary project environments.
