Opportunity Overview
Join Hitachi Energy as a Contract Manager supporting Sales & Marketing and Project Execution in the Transformer Business Unit. You will play a key role in effective contract management through an analytical, practical, and independent approach. Partner closely with diverse teams such as Sales, Supply Chain and Project Execution to ensure smooth contract preparation, administration, and project delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure contracts portfolio complies with contract and claim management methodologies per internal standards.
- Review and provide inputs on commercial and technical tender terms, analyze prime contract terms to identify opportunities and risks including ambiguities or conflicts.
- Collaborate with legal teams to draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements during Sales and Project Execution phases.
- Support Sales in risk review preparations and contractual negotiations working closely with legal and tendering teams.
- Identify contract baselines including all relevant documents and highlight potential risks.
- Manage commercial contract execution ensuring timely payments, claims, variations, warranties, provisions, and guarantees.
- Verify contractual obligations fulfillment for both parties and facilitate contract closeouts while documenting lessons learned and deficiencies.
- Deliver periodic practical contract management training across company functions to build competence.
- Provide guidance and leadership on contract management to cross-functional teams, participate in claim negotiations, and oversee purchasing activities ensuring contract terms flow down to vendors.
- Demonstrate and uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant external and internal policies, regulations, and guidelines.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in law or equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Contract Management, Risk Management, Legal, or Commercial roles.
- Extensive background managing contracts within EPC energy projects or complex industrial product manufacturing.
- Experience collaborating with internationally diverse teams and contractual partners preferred.
- Solid expertise in contract negotiation, change and claim management, and understanding legal impacts through tendering and project execution.
- Systematic, structured working style with flexibility and adaptability to specific needs.
- Comfortable working ethically across cultures with strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication skills in multicultural settings with a focus on results and proactivity.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
