Job Overview

The Commissioning Engineer will assist in conducting and managing commissioning operations focusing on Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Controls, and critical mission data center infrastructures. Responsibilities cover activities from the conclusion of construction to testing phases, integrated systems testing, and the final handover process.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Have 5 to 10 years of hands-on commissioning experience within MEP systems.
  • Preferably bring 2 to 3 years of expertise in commissioning mission-critical buildings or data center projects.
  • Experience with hyperscale clients such as Microsoft, Google, AWS, Meta, or Oracle is considered advantageous.

Core Skills

  • Data Center Commissioning and Functional & Integrated Systems Testing (FPT/IST).
  • Testing of MEP and ELV systems along with familiarity with BMS, EPMS, and DCIM platforms.
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent documentation management and reporting skills.
  • Effective teamwork and coordination capabilities.

  • Clear and effective communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Commissioning Manager in executing the commissioning plan, testing methodologies, and turnover timelines.
  • Confirm system readiness by assessing construction completion status, QA/QC documentation, inspection test plans (ITPs), checklist audits, and punch list updates.
  • Coordinate commissioning procedures with contractors, suppliers, consultants, QA/QC staff, and client representatives.
  • Carry out startup, testing, and commissioning tasks for HVAC, chilled water systems, medium and low voltage electrical infrastructure, UPS units, generators, battery systems, fuel supply systems, and fire protection mechanisms.
  • Test, validate, and ensure proper operation of BMS, EPMS, DCIM, SCADA, fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, and network infrastructure components.
  • Perform Functional Performance Tests (FPT) and support Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including redundancy and failure scenario verifications of configurations such as N+1, 2N, and 2N+1.
  • Ensure system operational sequences, control logic, alarm functions, interlocks, and monitoring comply fully with project specifications.
  • Document commissioning activities thoroughly, manage deficiency tracking, monitor corrective measures, and ensure resolution on schedule.
  • Develop and update comprehensive commissioning documents such as checklists, test reports, turnover packages, as-built drawings, operations & maintenance manuals, and training materials.
  • Adhere strictly to project health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, permit to work (PTW) and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, client requirements, and relevant codes/regulations throughout the commissioning process.
