Role Overview

Ballantynes is looking for a Chef de Partie to contribute to both its Production Kitchen and Kin Bistro Kitchens. The Production Kitchen handles large-scale preparation producing food for famous Tearooms, Ballantyne Home Kitchen Range, and Retail Pantry, emphasizing volume and quality in a dynamic setting. Kin Bistro, with seating for sixty guests, serves a contemporary seasonal menu throughout the day and hosts various in-house events such as The Breakfast Club, Books and Bubbles, and product launches, offering diverse culinary experiences.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Prepare and produce bakery and pâtisserie items with expertise.
• Contribute to development and curation of high-quality food products.
• Manage ordering supplies and stock control efficiently.
• Maintain exceptional hygiene and presentation standards.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing within the team.
• Juggle multiple tasks and prioritize duties in a busy kitchen environment.
• Utilize knowledge of local and regional produce to enhance offerings.
• Demonstrate strong time management and adaptability to different café menus.
• Be eager to learn new skills and share knowledge with colleagues.

Additional Information

This permanent role requires a minimum of 32 hours weekly, including flexible shifts with at least one weekend day and occasional late nights to support in-house events. Candidates must have valid legal work eligibility for New Zealand.
