Chartering Manager

Role Overview

Ryan Owen Associates is actively recruiting a Chartering Manager to join the commercial team of a well-established international dry bulk shipping owner and operator in Singapore. This position offers a valuable opportunity for professionals with junior-level chartering experience eager to progress in a hands-on owner/operator setting, focusing on Handy and Supramax vessels within regional dry bulk trades.

Key Duties

• Oversee chartering operations related to Handy and Supramax vessel fleets.
• Identify and appraise freight cargo and vessel availability.
• Conduct negotiations for voyage and time charter agreements with shipowners, charterers, and brokers.
• Keep abreast of trends and developments in freight markets, vessel locations, and cargo movements.
• Perform voyage economics calculations to evaluate commercial prospects.
• Build and maintain relationships with cargo owners, brokers, and other market participants.
• Collaborate closely with operations and the broader commercial team to optimize vessel deployment and enhance profitability.

Candidate Profile

• Possess approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in dry bulk chartering.
• Familiarity with Handy and Supramax vessel categories.
• Experience within shipowning, operating, or dry bulk trading sectors is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of voyage computations, charterparty contracts, and dry bulk market dynamics.
• Commercially minded, with initiative and aptitude for building industry relationships.
• Excellent negotiation and communication capabilities.
