Caretaker

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Caretaker/Janitor to join our workforce, primarily based at the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre in Norfolk, England. The role requires mobility between sites, so possession of a valid driving license and vehicle access is advantageous. Successful candidates must pass police vetting and have been UK residents for at least 3 consecutive years.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive cleaning services across the secure facility, including scheduled, reactive, and specialized cleaning tasks, as well as providing out-of-hours support for reactive duties and cover for holidays or sickness at other sites, with flexible shifts covering weekends and public holidays.
• Assist with upkeep and minor repair of site equipment and facilities.
• Perform daily reactive and preventative maintenance and repair tasks.
• Conduct monthly cleaning of internal and external windows and window frames.
• Manage grounds and garden areas, including planting, grass cutting, and weeding.
• Collect and dispose of waste appropriately within facility boundaries.
• Maintain sufficient stock levels of consumables and equipment such as toilet paper, copier paper, and detainee supplies.
• Provide training and guidance to other staff on core caretaking tasks and responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in cleaning and maintenance roles is essential.
• Experience working within secure facilities is preferred.
• Basic skills in ICT, electrical, and mechanical tasks.
• Possession of a current clean driving licence.
• Availability for flexible working hours.
• Must meet police vetting criteria, including UK residency for a minimum of three years.

• Annual basic salary of £26,832.
