Job description
Role Overview
The position of Camera Man Head (also known as Chief Cameraperson or Camera Supervisor) is tasked with leading the camera department, ensuring the highest standards of video production, and planning and executing shoots both in studio and on location.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the camera crew including cameramen and assistants, distributing responsibilities for various shoots, events, and programs.
- Train and mentor junior camera operators to improve team performance.
- Operate professional cameras as necessary, make decisions on camera angles, framing, and coordinate lighting to achieve high-quality broadcast visuals.
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and editors to strategize camera arrangements for live telecasts such as religious events and studio recordings, as well as outdoor coverage.
- Manage the maintenance and storage of camera equipment, lenses, tripods, and accessories, including handling repairs and upgrades when needed.
- Monitor technical aspects such as video clarity, focus, exposure, and color grading to meet broadcast standards and resolve any technical difficulties that may arise during shooting.
- Oversee multi-camera setups during live broadcasts, coordinate with the control room, and make prompt decisions in high-pressure environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive understanding of video cameras and lighting setups.
- Leadership abilities and experience managing teams.
- Knowledge of live television production workflows.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems efficiently under time constraints.
- Familiarity with basic editing and broadcasting systems.
- Diploma or degree in Mass Communication, Film, or Television Production.
- 3 to 8 or more years of camera operation experience, including skills in creating reels.
Additional Information
- Candidates must possess their own camera such as SONY Z-90, SONY MARK 2, CANON R8, or SONY FX6.
- Respect for the Jain religious environment is essential since the channel focuses on spiritual and religious content.
- Experience covering spiritual programs, temple events, or Pravachan sessions is advantageous.
- The role demands flexible working hours, including early mornings and during religious festivals.
- Work locations include studios and outdoor environments like temples and community events; occasional long or irregular hours are expected particularly for live broadcast events.
