Role Overview
The Cafe Manager in Auckland oversees the daily functions of the in-store cafe within Riviera Hardware Holdings Ltd (Mitre 10 New Zealand). This on-site, full-time position includes managing cafe employees, planning staff schedules, and ensuring exceptional customer service alongside appealing food presentation. Responsibilities encompass ordering and monitoring stock, handling cash and point-of-sale operations, and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. The manager is responsible for developing menus, ensuring quality and timely service, and addressing customer feedback with professionalism. Additionally, the role involves training staff, fostering a positive workplace culture, and coordinating with store leadership to align cafe activities with overarching business objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Practical experience in hospitality or cafe management with team supervision and daily operational coordination.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene protocols, and occupational health and safety relevant to cafe settings.
- Excellent customer service aptitude and ability to interact effectively with a diverse clientele.
- Proficiency in cash handling, point-of-sale technology, plus foundational budgeting and cost management skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership capability for team training and support.
- Organizational and time management proficiency, especially in roster development and handling peak hours.
- Availability for full-time, on-site work in Auckland including weekends and public holidays as needed.
- Prior experience working in retail cafes and possessing qualifications in hospitality or management are considered advantageous.
