Job description

Role Overview

The Buyer / Planner based in County Kerry is responsible for coordinating the prompt acquisition of materials and devising production and inventory plans to support manufacturing activities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and update production schedules considering customer demand, forecast requirements, and capacity.
  • Track and manage production to address any schedule conflicts proactively.
  • Conduct Material Requirements Planning (MRP) using SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Plan activities for standard manufacturing, validation runs, engineering batches, and product launches.
  • Align production plans with inventory goals and supply chain strategies.
  • Create and oversee purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, consumables, and indirect items.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and manage delivery and stock levels.
  • Speed up procurement of critical materials to avoid production delays.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and inventory data within ERP systems.
  • Keep inventory levels optimal, reducing excess and obsolete stock.
  • Review safety stock and reorder points regularly.
  • Analyze inventory trends and apply improvements for better inventory turnover.
  • Serve as the liaison between suppliers, manufacturing, warehouse, and quality teams.
  • Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop preventive measures.
  • Ensure all purchasing and planning adhere to GMP, GDP, FDA, EMA, and company policies.
  • Keep thorough documentation ready to support inspections and audits.
  • Analyze supply chain data and suggest enhancements.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in procurement, supply or production planning, or materials management.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or regulated manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in SAP modules such as MM, PP, and MRP or equivalent ERP tools.
  • Strong skills in inventory management and supply chain analytics.
  • Good understanding of GMP, GDP, and relevant regulatory demands.
  • Advanced computer literacy.

Additional Information

The position requires close collaboration across multiple departments including Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, Engineering, Procurement, and external suppliers to secure uninterrupted production operations.
