Job description
Job Summary
The Brand Specialist serves as the local product technical authority for construction machinery lines such as excavators, wheel loaders, and bulldozers. This role involves conducting research on market conditions and equipment operation environments, analyzing competitors’ technical specifications, enabling sales teams and customers with product knowledge, and advocating for localized product enhancements to meet the demands of the East African market.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planning based on local market needs and conduct field research on working conditions for excavators, wheel loaders, and bulldozers, focusing on site conditions and competitor product positioning within East Africa.
- Perform detailed competitor technical analyses and comparative performance testing to evaluate engine, transmission, axle, hydraulic systems; execute fuel efficiency and operational effectiveness benchmarking.
- Provide comprehensive training and promotional activities related to new products by mastering specifications, configurations, standout features, and optimal usage scenarios; train internal sales personnel and customers to boost product launch and market penetration.
- Collect data on machine operation and customer input for established products, advocating for adaptations and refinements to better suit local requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Machinery, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Practical experience working with heavy-duty construction machines such as excavators, loaders, or bulldozers.
- Hands-on exposure to market research, competitive technical benchmarking, and field performance testing.
- Ability to conduct technical training, deliver presentations, and communicate effectively across teams.
- Fluency in English as the working language and willingness to travel frequently across East Africa.
- Previous experience within the African market considered an advantage.
