Role Overview

The position seeks a seasoned Biostatistics Manager to oversee statistical strategy, analysis, and methodology across clinical research, epidemiology, healthcare, and life sciences projects. The role involves leading biostatisticians and statistical assignments, crafting analysis plans, reviewing study designs, directing statistical programming, interpreting findings, and advising researchers and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute biostatistical strategies that align with the organization's research objectives
  • Direct statistical operations for clinical trials, observational studies, epidemiologic research, and healthcare projects
  • Provide expert advice on study design, protocols, sample size, and selecting appropriate endpoints
  • Create statistical analysis plans, specifications, and methodologies
  • Evaluate study protocols and recommend suitable designs and statistical approaches
  • Lead or supervise statistical analyses of clinical, epidemiological, medical, and real-world datasets
  • Manage teams of biostatisticians, programmers, data analysts, and external consultants
  • Apply descriptive and inferential statistics, regression, survival and longitudinal analyses, and advanced methods appropriately
  • Support a variety of research designs including randomized controlled trials, cohort and case-control studies, and cross-sectional analyses
  • Conduct sample-size estimations, power calculations, interim data assessments, and simulations when needed
  • Resolve data quality issues in collaboration with clinical data management teams
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals including clinicians, epidemiologists, and data scientists
  • Develop, review, and validate statistical tables, figures, and research deliverables
  • Clearly communicate complex statistical results to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to clinical study reports, publications, regulatory submissions, and scientific presentations
  • Ensure all analyses comply with GCP, regulatory, ethical, and scientific standards
  • Maintain documentation, reproducibility, versioning, and quality control processes
  • Review programming outputs and develop quality control procedures
  • Stay abreast of emerging techniques including AI, machine learning, and real-world evidence methodologies
  • Support health economics, outcomes research, population health studies, and healthcare performance metrics
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contract research organizations, academic partners, and institutes
  • Plan projects including budget, resources, timelines, and deliverables
  • Monitor project progress, resource use, statistical quality, and adherence to timelines
  • Prepare executive summaries, research insights, and strategic recommendations
  • Lead, mentor, and foster best practices in statistical methodology and scientific integrity among team members

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Mathematics, or related area
  • 5 to over 10 years’ experience in biostatistics, clinical/pharmaceutical research, or healthcare analytics
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing statistical projects and multidisciplinary research teams
  • Expertise in statistical methods, study design, clinical trial processes, and data analytics
  • Proficient in development of statistical analysis plans, sample size and power calculations, and statistical modelling
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical trials and observational study types
  • Hands-on experience working with clinical, epidemiological, healthcare, or real-world data sources
  • Advanced skills in statistical programming tools and software
  • Excellent analytical, communication, scientific reasoning, and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to distill complex statistical concepts into accessible recommendations
  • Familiarity with UAE healthcare systems and clinical research environment is advantageous

Preferred Credentials

  • PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline
  • Professional certifications or memberships such as ASA or ISCB
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS, R, Python, Stata, or SPSS software
  • Experience with clinical data standards like CDISC, SDTM, and ADaM
  • Understanding of international guidelines including ICH E6 GCP, ICH E9, FDA, EMA regulations
  • Experience liaising with regulatory bodies and preparing submissions
  • Knowledge of advanced techniques such as survival and longitudinal analysis, Bayesian methods, causal inference, propensity scores, and handling missing data
  • Experience in real-world evidence, health economics, population health, or precision medicine research
  • Application of AI and machine learning to biomedical data
  • Experience collaborating with CROs, pharmaceutical/biotech firms, hospitals, and academic institutions
  • Knowledge of UAE’s MOHAP, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority is beneficial
  • Experience working in the broader GCC region is a plus
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic skills advantageous
