Primary Responsibilities
- Create 3D construction models utilizing base designs, P&IDs, scan data, and point clouds.
- Develop construction detailing to facilitate automatic generation of isometric drawings and bills of materials.
- Manage clash detection across all systems.
- Design and detail service support systems.
- Follow Mercury’s CAD and BIM guidelines and established procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with different trades.
- Perform field surveys and verify data.
- Oversee drawing schedules and ensure timeliness.
- Generate models and reports aligning with project schedules.
- Identify and resolve coordination and design issues.
- Produce general arrangement drawings and detailed sheets.
- Participate in design and construction review meetings.
- Contribute to the enhancement of BIM protocols and systems.
- Coordinate with the BIM steering committee to execute improvement plans.
- Lead implementation of new BIM initiatives to establish Mercury as an industry leader in BIM capabilities and innovation.
- Travel domestically and internationally to project sites as required.
- Engage in networking and foster teamwork.
- Train and mentor new staff after completion of training modules.
- Liaise with site personnel to interpret and modify models accordingly.
- Ensure integration of models into the federated model for overall coordination.
- Develop 3D coordinated layouts of services and structures for clash avoidance.
- Maintain up-to-date drawing management systems.
- Develop mechanical and electrical systems designs, coordinate building services, and manage drawing registers and standards.
- Write technical reports.
- Prepare builders works schedules and corresponding drawings.
- Produce 3D design drawings, prefabrication isometrics, and detailed views.
- Complete material procurement schedules.
- Develop project programming timelines.
- Attend design, client, and site meetings as needed.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, clients, consultants, and general contractors to ensure accurate installations.
- Comply with health and safety standards and Mercury’s environment, health, and safety policies.
- Coordinate installation of mechanical services with other trades.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control compliance.
- Perform all other responsibilities pertinent to the role.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- At least five years in a trades role combined with proficient computer skills.
- University degree or diploma in engineering or BIM-related field; engineering graduates should have a minimum of 3 years experience in a BIM department or similar setting.
- Advanced efficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Revit software tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
