Job description
Overview
The Bilingual Language Assessor is responsible for conducting accurate and high-quality language evaluations in both English and French. This role ensures a smooth and effective assessment process, supports candidates throughout their journey, and maintains thorough records of assessments. Additionally, the assessor contributes to the enhancement of language assessment services through detailed reporting and quality feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments in French and English, maintaining accuracy and consistency throughout.
- Utilize digital platforms and advanced tools to administer assessments efficiently and reliably.
- Create and share helpful preparation advice with candidates to improve their readiness.
- Produce detailed reports summarizing candidate performance after assessments.
- Keep precise assessment records and deliver comprehensive reports to the Language Assessment management team.
- Manage pre- and post-assessment tests for participants in the Bridge program at both entry and completion stages.
- Respond to candidate questions regarding assessments and results, providing clear and supportive explanations.
- Assess the quality of assessments and candidate experience, offering improvement suggestions to the Language Assessment Manager.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by the Language Assessment Manager to support the assessment operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Languages, Education, or related disciplines.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in language assessment, teaching, education, or related fields.
- Proven experience in administering assessments and compiling detailed reports.
- Familiarity with digital assessment tools and diligent record keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with various candidates and effectively address their queries about assessment procedures and outcomes.
- Fluency in both English and French, in written and verbal forms.
- Strong skills in assessment techniques, data analysis, and report writing.
- Proficiency in digital platforms for assessments and common productivity software such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a focus on customer service and clarity when explaining results.
- Experience with standardized language tests or language assessments is advantageous.
- Background in education, language training, or assessment environments is preferred.
- Understanding of language proficiency standards such as the CEFR is beneficial.
