Job Location and Schedule

This position is based at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Work shifts vary, including different days and hours, with a preference for candidates who have open availability. Further details about scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation

The hourly pay for this role ranges between $14.00 and $16.00.

Role Overview

As a Baker within Sodexo, you will be responsible for creating baked goods from scratch following precise recipes and production guidelines. Your efforts will align with Sodexo’s culinary standards to ensure exceptional taste and presentation of pastries and bakery items that delight guests. Duties may adapt based on the specific requirements of the client site.

Key Responsibilities

• Review daily production plans and use Sodexo recipes to craft an assortment of baked products including breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries.
• Precisely measure and weigh ingredients, mix doughs and batters manually or with a mixer, form and cut dough, then bake products to optimal quality.
• Regulate oven settings, track baking durations, and guarantee baked goods are prepared and maintained at proper temperatures.
• Prepare and stock the bakery work area, ensuring correct storage practices such as rotation, labeling, and dating; maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Maintain high attention to detail, fulfill special orders, and uphold the quality standards of all baked items exiting the kitchen.
• Perform physical activities including extensive walking and mobility; use hands for handling, feeling, reaching, and sensory evaluation like tasting or smelling.
• Stand or walk throughout long shifts that may exceed eight hours, and frequently lift items weighing up to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds; bend, stoop, push, and pull as required.
• Attend scheduled shifts punctually with reliable consistency.
• Other tasks may be assigned depending on business and client needs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Between no experience up to one year in related work is acceptable.
• Previous experience in a bakery or pastry specialty role is considered advantageous.
