Position Overview
The Associate Civil Engineer will play a vital role in the planning and execution of technically demanding building and structural projects across New Zealand. The role includes leading teams of technical professionals engaged in interconnected engineering tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized technical guidance throughout all phases of project lifecycles to deliver effective and cost-efficient solutions aligned with client needs.
- Oversee the organization and management of medium to large-scale projects; this encompasses generating and coordinating tender materials, detailed design documentation, specifications, and other deliverables within set schedules and budgets.
- Handle project monitoring including performance evaluation, financial control, and resource allocation.
- Support the growth of junior engineers and project staff through mentorship and training opportunities.
- Serve as the main contact for projects, tracking advancement and communicating progress reports to clients.
- Foster and sustain strong client relationships to guarantee satisfaction and reliable service provision.
- Prepare and critically evaluate complex, high-level technical reports for various stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, demonstrating considerable technical mastery and interpersonal skills, specifically in buildings and structures within consultancy settings.
- Possession of accredited tertiary engineering qualifications with specialization in structural engineering.
- In-depth familiarity with New Zealand engineering standards and codes.
- Preferably Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and/or National Engineering Register (NER) registration.
- Strong client management capabilities supported by a developed network, especially within the Auckland market.
- Proven ability to manage and successfully deliver projects of considerable scale and complexity.
- Effective collaboration skills to work within multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical details to non-engineering stakeholders.
- Experience leading project teams to complete high-profile projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for engagement with stakeholders, regulatory authorities, clients, and contractors at all levels.
- A proactive approach toward mentoring team members and ambition for personal professional development.
