Role Overview
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor position is a full-time, on-location role based in Abuja. Responsibilities include aiding in the compilation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), assisting in cost planning, and supporting budget oversight throughout project lifecycles. The assistant will help with cost reporting, verify on-site measurements and quantities, and assist in preparing valuations, change orders, and final accounts. Collaboration with project teams to maintain accurate cost control, organization of detailed records, and facilitating communication with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders form part of the job duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- Competency in cost planning and management to help ensure precise project budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Experience or knowledge in cost control and reporting to track expenses and generate clear, timely financial summaries.
- Familiarity with BOQ preparation and quantity take-off to produce accurate documentation of materials and work scope.
- Academic qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong numerical skills combined with analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel; knowledge of quantity surveying or construction cost software is advantageous.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills suited to working collaboratively within a site-based project team.
- Motivation to learn, adaptability, and adherence to health, safety, and regulatory requirements on construction sites.
