Job Overview
The Assistant Manager Instock plays a critical role in maintaining optimal stock availability and inventory health across assigned categories, including Food and Non-Food items. This position focuses on efficient management of demand forecasting, replenishment, stock levels, and warehouse space utilization to reduce out-of-stock situations and minimize excess inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure instock performance and availability within the assigned product category.
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts and replenishment strategies while leading the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle.
- Monitor inventory levels diligently, tracking out-of-stock, overstock, and waste metrics.
- Optimize warehouse space allocation and capacity planning.
- Support promotional activities and seasonal inventory planning.
- Work closely with commercial and operations teams to align inventory strategies.
- Provide data-driven insights based on sales, inventory, and space utilization metrics.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in B.Tech or a related discipline.
- 2 to 4 years' relevant experience in supply chain management, inventory planning, category operations, or business analytics preferably in e-commerce, quick commerce, retail, or FMCG sectors.
- Proficiency in SQL for manipulating large datasets independently.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets for creating models, pivot tables, and reliable reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, including safety stock calculation, reorder points, lead times, coverage, and service level optimization.
- Experience with demand forecasting and time-series analysis concepts such as trends, seasonality, and forecast accuracy metrics (MAPE, WMAPE).
- Keen analytical mindset for identifying anomalies in data and diagnosing underlying causes.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to coordinate with buyers, warehouse staff, and operations leadership regularly.
- Proactive and adaptable, with a bias toward taking action in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Basic proficiency in Python for data analysis and workflow automation, including use of pandas and scripting techniques.
- Experience with statistical or machine learning forecasting methods like ARIMA, ETS, regression, or gradient boosting, or familiarity with commercial forecasting/replenishment tools.
- Previous exposure to dark stores, micro-fulfilment centers, or managing perishable goods inventory.
- Knowledge of business intelligence platforms such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
