Job description
Position Overview
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supervising and ensuring the cleanliness and quality of guest rooms, public areas, and other hotel facilities after housekeeping services have been completed. This role involves reviewing sold room reports, verifying and prioritizing room cleaning, and updating room statuses. The Assistant Manager works closely with various departments including Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry to coordinate efforts and resolve discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and pool areas following cleaning to uphold quality standards.
- Analyze room reports, identify room discrepancies, prioritize cleaning schedules, and communicate room statuses.
- Support housekeeping management in daily operational duties.
- Coordinate between departments to resolve issues related to room status and maintenance.
- Manage documentation and communication related to room assignments and housekeeping reports.
- Assist in recruitment, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of housekeeping staff.
- Comply with all company policies relating to safety, security, uniform, confidentiality, and asset protection.
- Provide excellent guest service by greeting guests, anticipating their needs, and addressing special requirements with professionalism.
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships within the team and across departments.
- Ensure operational safety by reporting hazards, completing safety training, and properly handling physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling furniture or equipment.
- Operate housekeeping carts and related machinery, and maintain physical endurance during work shifts.
- Use computer systems or POS machines proficiently for work-related information entry and retrieval.
- Perform any other assigned duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education level: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least one year of relevant work experience in housekeeping.
- At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
- No specific licenses or certifications mandatory.
