About the Role

We are recruiting an Analyst specializing in vibration to assist our engineering maintenance and operations teams. This role involves gathering and interpreting condition monitoring data to optimize equipment performance and increase plant uptime. The scope covers vibration analysis, oil testing, infrared scanning, laser alignment, balancing, material testing, and thickness inspection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laser alignment on pertinent machinery adhering to mill specifications.
  • Execute infrared scanning and related assessments as needed.
  • Carry out scheduled vibration data collection and analysis on equipment.
  • Perform oil sampling and analysis as required on an ad hoc basis.
  • Balance equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain and care for diagnostic instruments such as Data Loggers, Infrared cameras, laser alignment devices, and Bruker material analysis equipment.
  • Organize, prioritize, and allocate daily tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain comprehensive records including scheduled and unscheduled tasks, breakdowns, monthly performance reports, vibration and failure analysis, cost-saving documentation, and root cause investigations.
  • Continuously report machinery status to supervisors and engineering teams.
  • Develop and manage vibration databases by collecting precise details about plant components such as bearings, gears, roll sizes, pumps, gearboxes, and motors using plant data, libraries, and supplier manuals, ensuring the master data for the mill is up to date in a computerized system.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Matriculation certificate along with N6/NQF Level 5 or 6 qualification or equivalent.
  • Trade Test certification in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electrical disciplines accredited by Manpower or Seta.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience after apprenticeship within a heavy engineering industrial environment.
  • Completion of an accredited vibration analysis certification such as Category I or Vibration Analysis I.
  • Exposure to advanced predictive diagnostic technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring equipment is advantageous.
