Role Overview
The Aircraft Load Planner position supports a specialized U.S. Navy program located on Diego Garcia island. This role is responsible for verifying that aircraft load arrangements — including cargo, baggage, and passengers — comply with safety standards and aircraft limitations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance in planning to estimate aircraft types for load operations.
- Examine aircraft weight and balance documentation along with cargo manifests.
- Calculate the number and placement of cargo, passengers, or troops to be loaded.
- Compute load distributions and weight balances, factoring fuel, structural aircraft limits, and emergency equipment.
- Utilize military systems such as Automated Air Load Planning System (AALPS) and Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) to create aircraft load plans for USAF cargo planes.
- Coordinate with U.S. Army units and Air Force Loadmasters to ensure proper cargo loading procedures.
- Perform additional job-related tasks consistent with position requirements.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of experience operating AALPS and/or ICODES software.
- Minimum two years' experience with Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES).
- Two years’ familiarity with Global Decision Support System II (GDSS II).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Capability to complete DoD Air Transportation of Hazardous Materials Inspector Course and AMC-specific load planning training.
- Effective communicator suitable for interaction with military personnel and civilians.
- Decision-making skills to manage competing priorities favoring customer service.
- Strong judgment and meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with ability to function independently for extended periods.
- Possession of a valid passport able to support international travel, valid for at least one year at hiring.
- Eligibility to secure country-specific visas per U.S. Department of State guidelines.
- Successful passage of contract medical standards and ongoing compliance throughout deployment.
- Capacity to obtain and maintain required facility access credentials.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to meet contract and emergency communication needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in austere, outside the continental U.S. environments with multinational teams.
- Holders of a valid driver's license.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication capabilities.

Working Conditions

Work hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts according to operational demands.
Physical Demands
This role includes prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, and lifting weights up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally. Medical, security, and deployment criteria must be met for successful assignment in this remote overseas location.
