AI Senior Developer - DIS

About the Role

This position involves leading a team of Artificial Intelligence developers within the SAF AI Centre (SAIC), a unit under the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) dedicated to tackling operational data science challenges and advancing defence capabilities through innovative AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage teams of AI developers working on prioritized AI products.
• Provide on-site support to various affiliated entities as needed.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external AI partners.
• Continuously stay informed about the latest AI and Machine Learning technological advancements.
• Initiate and promote impactful engineering projects throughout the Singapore Armed Forces.
• Ensure strategic and beneficial deployment of AI and ML tools within the SAF.

Challenges to Anticipate

• Maintaining expert-level knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, including proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
• Applying expertise with complex data structures and algorithmic solutions.
• Keeping pace with the rapidly evolving AI/ML technology landscape.
• Developing a thorough understanding of how AI/ML is applied and affects military operations.

Candidate Profile

• Possess educational qualifications in quantitative, scientific, or technological disciplines such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Analytics.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in AI or related fields.
• Comprehensive knowledge of AI/ML concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning.
• Practical expertise with contemporary AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Strong leadership capabilities combined with effective planning and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and perform well in high-pressure situations.
