AI Engineering Manager

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic and high-achieving team of AI and machine learning engineers. This leadership role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on technical involvement in designing, developing, and deploying pioneering AI-driven products and platforms. The manager will influence the AI strategy and provide mentorship to engineering staff while actively contributing to architecture and system design efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the principal technical authority guiding architecture, design, and deployment of scalable, secure, and reliable AI systems.
• Engage heavily in hands-on development including coding, code reviews, and designing complex system architectures.
• Lead the transformation of legacy systems by integrating AI features such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), code generation, and multi-agent workflows.
• Oversee the AI project lifecycle from initial conception, experimentation, to deployment and continual optimization.
• Implement and uphold software development best practices, including agile approaches, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and automated testing.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and product teams to align AI strategies and roadmaps with business objectives.
• Evaluate and decide between building in-house AI solutions or acquiring third-party tools and platforms.
• Manage budgets, resource distribution, and vendor partnerships within the AI department.
• Effectively communicate technical information, progress, and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an innovative, cooperative, and learning-focused AI engineering team.
• Handle recruitment, onboarding, and career advancement planning for engineering staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• 13 to 15 years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on AI, machine learning, or data science domains.
• 5 to 8 years in leadership or managerial roles managing high-performing technical teams.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• In-depth knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and generative AI techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable AI infrastructure and MLOps/LLMOps pipelines on cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong expertise in system design, microservices architecture, and API development.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a PhD is advantageous.
