Position Summary
As an AI Delivery Engineer within the Developer Experience team, you will combine deep engineering judgment with AI-driven development to create and maintain critical systems used by all 7shifts engineers. Your work impacts a product relied upon daily by a substantial workforce in the restaurant sector. Your responsibilities include interpreting complex business and developer requirements into deployable, efficient software solutions, leveraging AI as a core development tool while ensuring high standards for quality, architecture, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects end-to-end from identifying problems, designing technical solutions, developing, iterating, and sustaining products without needing detailed specifications.
- Construct scalable backend architectures, data models, and AI-integrated frameworks.
- Utilize AI as the primary development aid, steering output generation, validating results, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to enhance development speed, reduce costs, and increase adoption of AI-powered tools to streamline operational efficiency.
- Establish and uphold best engineering practices including code and specification reviews, testing protocols, and technical decision-making that sets standards.
- Translate ambiguous developer and business goals into technically sound solutions while proactively identifying trade-offs and risks for informed team decisions.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members to uplift overall quality and problem-solving approaches.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience owning production software and delivering robust, scalable solutions with accountability for long-term outcomes and consequences.
- Demonstrated expertise with Managed Connectivity Platform (MCP) servers, creating beyond basic connectors to comprehensive orchestrated workflows utilizing contextual capabilities.
- Proficient in actively using AI within development workflows to enhance delivery speed and quality control.
- Ability to resolve ambiguous requirements into clear, maintainable solutions within large codebases where errors carry significant impact.
- Strong communication skillset enabling clear articulation of technical trade-offs and alignment with diverse stakeholders including engineering managers and leadership.
- Self-aware with a growth mindset focused on learning from experiences and continuous improvement.
- Track record of developing others through mentorship, in-depth code reviews, sharing actionable technical knowledge, and fostering autonomous problem-solving.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building agentic harnesses or agentic control planes is advantageous.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is CAD 130,000 to CAD 180,000 yearly, reflecting levels from core skill acquisition to mastery. Recruitment targets candidates at the accomplished experience level, who demonstrate strong competencies and impact delivery with a progressive growth trajectory. Compensation is performance-driven and increases with skill development and expanded influence.
