About Heritage Lifecare and Waiapu House Lifecare
Waiapu House Lifecare is an 80-bed care home with an adjacent 31-unit village, based in the sunny suburb of Havelock North in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. We are part of Heritage Lifecare, one of New Zealand's largest and fastest-growing aged care providers, specializing in aged and dementia care with 42 care homes and 20 villages nationwide. Role Overview
We seek a compassionate full-time Activities Coordinator to join our team in Havelock North. Working 32 hours or more weekly, including AM, PM, and weekend shifts, you will plan and deliver diverse activity programs that cater to the physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs of our residents. Your role will include organizing outings, events, and community group participation, fostering meaningful relationships with residents and their families, and supporting a safe, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activity programs tailored to individual resident needs.
- Organize outings, social events, and community involvement opportunities.
- Create a warm and caring atmosphere promoting resident well-being and happiness.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic resident support.
- Build and maintain strong bonds with residents and their whanau (families).
- Support colleagues to maintain a positive and effective team environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience providing care in an aged care environment is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Possession of a full New Zealand driver's license and confidence in operating a van.
- Genuine compassion for helping others and excellent customer service skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and awareness of health and safety practices.
