Job description
About the Role
This position is ideal for someone with estimating or assessing experience who enjoys taking decisive action by approving repairs and helping customers get back on the road after an incident. The role involves inspecting vehicles, evaluating damage, reviewing repair quotes, and deciding on fair repair outcomes. The job is a blend of fieldwork, with on-site vehicle inspections, and office-based responsibilities such as reviewing claims and drafting reports.
This is a full-time commitment of 38 hours weekly with a busy schedule alternating between customer interactions, assessments, and collaborating with repair shops. Compared to workshop roles, it offers a more varied pace and is less physically demanding in the long run. Many in this role work a 9-day fortnight and split their time between vehicle assessments out on the road and desktop work from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a full-time hybrid role servicing clients across the Sunshine Coast.
- Conduct inspections of damaged vehicles to validate insurance claims.
- Calculate repair scopes and review estimates submitted by repairers.
- Authorize repair outcomes that are fair and evidence-supported.
- Detect inconsistencies or signs of potential fraud in claims.
- Apply insurance policies and assess liability as part of the evaluation.
- Manage customer expectations with professionalism and clear communication.
- Organize your own schedule and ensure timely claim processing.
- Collaborate closely with service providers to guarantee high-quality repairs.
- Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Up to three years of experience in vehicle estimating or assessing roles.
- Possession of a trade qualification in Panel Beating or Spray Painting is essential.
- Experience with watercraft or specialty vehicles is considered an advantage.
- Valid driver's licence is mandatory.
Desired Attributes
- Remain calm and clear when dealing with frustrated customers, articulating decisions effectively.
- Make decisions grounded in evidence and company policy, resisting external pressure.
- Stand by your judgements even if they are not popular.
- Notice subtle details that others might overlook and ensure they are properly documented.
- Commit to following every case through completion.
- Prioritize safety, compliance, and quality over speed.
- Earn respect from repairers through fairness, consistency, and transparency.
What You Will Receive
- Use of a company-maintained vehicle, fuel card, and mobile business tools.
- Option to work a 9-day fortnight schedule with every other Friday off.
- Incentive programs paid biannually.
- Flexible work rosters to suit lifestyle needs.
- Four weeks of paid training after joining.
- Opportunities for career advancement with clear development pathways.
- Entitlement to 22 days annual leave plus additional volunteer leave.
- Discounts on Youi insurance products.
- Well-being benefits, including access to Fitness Passport.
