Role Overview

The Steward at The Ritz-Carlton in Lahaina, Hawaii, plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within kitchen and storage areas, ensuring that all food service ware and equipment are properly cleaned and stored. This position supports the high standards of luxury hospitality by assisting with dishwashing, cleaning, and stock management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning tools and equipment including dishwashing machines and hand wash stations.
• Wash and sanitize kitchen surfaces, storerooms, utensils, knives, and other equipment.
• Manage deliveries by receiving items, storing perishables correctly, and rotating stock.
• Clean dishes using detergent and sanitizing chemicals in a three-compartment sink, inspect and rewash as needed.
• Prepare and clean silverware and break down dirty containers for further cleaning.
• Maintain trash and recycling areas, including emptying bins and breaking down cardboard boxes.
• Clean and mop all assigned work areas efficiently.
• Follow all safety and security policies, report hazards or issues, and complete required safety training.
• Support team goals by communicating professionally and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Physically handle objects up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and reaching over extended periods.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
