About Qualcomm AI Research
Qualcomm AI Research operates at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence innovation. Our global team of AI researchers and engineers advances the field in areas such as generative AI, foundation models, multi-modal generation (including text, image, and video), reasoning, reinforcement learning, with a special focus on efficient on-device AI intelligence. The Vietnam team plays a pivotal role in spearheading innovative research and system-scale developments, bolstering Qualcomm's leadership in generative AI technologies across domains like mobile devices, automotive, extended reality (XR), and robotics.
Position Overview
We are recruiting several researchers ranging from Senior to Senior Staff Engineer levels for our distinguished Vietnam team. Applicants should demonstrate a solid history of publishing in leading AI and machine learning conferences and possess deep knowledge in generative AI technologies, including multi-modal foundational models, efficient model architectures, LLM reasoning techniques, reinforcement learning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and Agentic AI. Candidates will be instrumental in leading and contributing to significant research projects, collaborating internationally, and helping transform state-of-the-art AI models into practical applications. Senior candidates are also expected to provide mentorship to junior researchers and AI residents while steering innovation in line with Qualcomm’s strategic vision.
Key Duties
- Conduct innovative and advanced research focusing on efficient generative AI models, including large language models (LLMs), multi-modal foundational models, reasoning with LLMs, reinforcement learning, RAG, and Agentic AI approaches.
- Provide technical leadership across research and implementation projects, guiding research priorities to align with organizational goals.
- Mentor junior researchers, AI Residents, and engineers, promoting a collaborative and growth-oriented R&D culture.
- Lead initiatives to transition research outputs into production-grade solutions that have real-world uses and commercial value.
- Contribute actively to Qualcomm’s strategic programs in efficient AI and embedded intelligence.
- Publish research findings in prestigious conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, and EMNLP.
Qualifications
- Academic background including a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields with over 2 years of experience in Hardware, Software, or Systems Engineering.
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in similar disciplines with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Or a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related areas.
- Demonstrable research excellence evidenced by publications at top AI/ML venues.
- Expertise in generative AI, specifically large language models, multi-modal language-vision models, reasoning capabilities of LLMs, and diffusion models.
- Familiarity with model optimization techniques, including quantization and distillation.
- Hands-on experience managing model development workflows encompassing training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and optimization.
