Senior Software Engineer - Atlas API Experience

About the Role

The Atlas API Experience (APIx) team at MongoDB is part of the Atlas Data Services organization that builds the capabilities enabling global, fault-tolerant, and scalable MongoDB clusters. This team focuses on creating exceptional experiences that help developers evolve from beginners to experts in MongoDB.

As a Senior Software Engineer at MongoDB, you will enhance and expand our API platform and related tools such as Atlas CLI. Your work will empower customers to automate tasks via APIs and support internal teams who contribute to these APIs. The position is open for candidates based in Dublin or remotely within Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain new features for MongoDB Atlas API Platform and Developer Tools like AtlasCLI.
• Develop tooling for MongoDB users and developers using languages including Java, Go, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Create software integration components utilizing various MongoDB technologies and integrate them into partner frameworks or solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Lead complex projects from inception through incremental deliverables and final delivery.
• Handle customer issues including Level 2 support escalation and problem resolution.
• Embody MongoDB core values in daily planning, design, and coding.

• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex software projects and lead technical decision-making.
• Passionate about developing infrastructure-scale systems.
• Curious, approachable, and intellectually honest in communication and collaboration.
• Effective collaborator across distributed teams and time zones.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and multitasking ability without requiring close supervision.
• Proficient in at least one programming language among Java, Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, and willing to learn others.
• Experience building developer tooling, APIs, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.

Success Benchmarks

• Within 3 months, acquire familiarity with existing developer tools and key integration features.
• Within 6 months, independently lead projects and deliver complex features while sharing knowledge.
• Within 9 months, fully integrate with the team, influence roadmap and workflow, and mentor peers.
