Overview
We seek a seasoned Operations Manager responsible for steering the entire operations of an FMCG warehouse. This pivotal role demands ensuring operational efficiency, precise inventory control, cost management, adherence to safety standards, and prompt order dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and outbound shipments.
- Guarantee seamless material flow and strict compliance with operational standard procedures, service-level agreements, and safety protocols.
- Track crucial warehouse performance indicators such as order accuracy, on-time in-full delivery, dock-to-stock duration, and labor productivity.
- Lead and manage teams comprising supervisors, team leaders, pickers, and forklift operators.
- Plan workforce needs, schedule shifts, and set productivity benchmarks based on operational demands and seasonal variations.
- Conduct performance evaluations, mentor staff, and foster professional growth.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and introduce lean practices to enhance efficiency.
- Refine picking strategies including batch, wave, and zone picking to boost output.
- Facilitate optimal use of warehouse management software, automation tools, and digital solutions.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO compliance, monitor product expiration, and enforce damage control measures.
- Collaborate with inventory control teams to resolve discrepancies and reduce stock shrinkage.
- Manage warehouse operating expenses such as labor, equipment, and supplies.
- Maximize warehouse space and streamline material handling processes.
- Support capacity planning, warehouse layout improvements, onboarding new products, and coping with volume surges during peak seasons.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental standards, food safety norms, and local regulations.
- Create a secure working environment minimizing accidents and operational hazards.
- Guarantee prompt and accurate order completion and address escalated operational challenges impacting service quality.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Between five and ten years of experience in warehouse or operations management roles.
- At least two years spent in supervisory or managerial capacities.
- Proven background in managing FMCG warehouses or high-volume distribution centers.
- Comprehensive understanding of inbound receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch processes.
- Strong grasp of inventory control principles including FIFO/FEFO, key performance metrics, and cost containment.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and operational reporting functions.
- Excellent leadership qualities, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to manage teams.
- Capability to prioritize multiple tasks and thrive under the pressures of a dynamic warehouse environment.
