Covering infrastructure, application development, data management, cybersecurity, and daily technical support, we partner broadly within the business to create technology solutions that solve real challenges while upholding data integrity and compliance.
Role Summary
The Workday Technical Specialist leads the design, configuration, implementation, enhancement, and integration of Workday HCM systems to align with Imbono’s people strategies, operational demands, and digital transformation goals. This position collaborates with HR, IT, business leaders, and vendors to optimize Workday modules, integrations, and workflows ensuring scalability, compliance, security, and business alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation, optimization, and support of Workday HCM modules.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday capabilities and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable Workday solutions.
- Configure and maintain modules such as Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Performance, Recruiting, Onboarding, Learning, Absence, Time Tracking, and Payroll integrations.
- Develop and manage Workday Extend applications, custom objects, and orchestrations.
- Coordinate comprehensive testing phases (unit, system, integration, UAT) and facilitate issue resolution.
- Design, develop, and maintain integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, Cloud Connect, APIs, and web services.
- Manage integration security, authentication, and access controls.
- Build and support payroll interfaces including native Workday Payroll and third-party providers (PECI, PICOF).
- Troubleshoot integration challenges and maintain detailed technical documentation.
- Optimize business processes, approve workflows, configure security roles, and enhance reporting solutions.
- Drive automation, system improvements, and continuous process enhancements.
- Create and update reports and analytics using tools like Report Writer, RaaS, BIRT, and Prism Analytics.
- Ensure data integrity, governance, compliance, and accurate workforce reporting.
- Monitor system performance and pursue optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate across HR, Finance, IT, and vendors for solution delivery.
- Lead training sessions, develop user documentation, and promote system adoption.
- Oversee change control, governance, compliance, audit readiness, and release management.
- Manage sandbox, preview, and production environments’ configurations and deployments.
- Participate in on-call rotation handling business-critical integrations and incident responses.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years hands-on experience in Workday configuration, integration, and end-to-end implementation within HRIS, HR Technology, or Enterprise Applications.
- Involved in at least one complete lifecycle Workday implementation project.
- Experience collaborating with global HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams.
- Strong expertise in Workday HCM modules, integrations, business processes, security management, reporting, and tenant administration.
- Proficiency in integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, PECI/PICOF, Workday Extend, and web services.
- Skilled in requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, process optimization, workflow automation, and translating business needs into scalable solutions.
- Preferably experienced in global matrix organizations and multi-country Workday deployments.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred Workday Pro Certification in any functional area such as HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, Learning, or Absence.
- Workday Integration Certification is advantageous.
- Experience with Workday Extend and Workday Studio is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Workday HCM configuration, customization, security administration, and business process design.
- Expertise in integrations including EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, PECI/PICOF, APIs, and web services (SOAP, REST, XML-related technologies).
- Experience in integration security, authentication, reporting, analytics, calculated fields, RaaS, BIRT, and Prism Analytics.
