About the Payments Team

This flagship team manages one of the largest payment platforms in the industry, processing trillions of dollars each year. Members on this team work to broaden Stripe's global payments network, innovate new payment functionalities, and ensure outstanding reliability and performance.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer on the Payments team, you will engage in designing, constructing, testing, and deploying high-quality software across diverse systems and technologies. Collaboration across multiple engineering groups as well as with business, sales, and operations stakeholders is key to solving user challenges and creating impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain APIs, services, and systems integral to Stripe's engineering landscape.
• Tackle complex problems end-to-end by interacting with varied technologies, processes, and systems.
• Work closely with engineering teams located around the world to coordinate development efforts.
• Maintain and elevate engineering standards by ensuring consistency in codebases and workflows.
• Advance tooling, standards, and engineering processes to support continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

• At least two years of professional experience in software development.
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven ability to work on multifaceted projects involving multiple engineering teams.
• Strong empathy, excellent communication skills, and respect for collaborative teamwork.
• Capacity to navigate ambiguous situations by defining clear actionable next steps despite unclear ownership boundaries.
• Commitment to high-quality code and a constructive approach towards helping peers improve.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within financial technology companies or interest in financial products and markets.
• Background in user-facing or cross-functional roles contributing to product roadmaps and fulfilling user requirements.

Work Environment Expectations

Employees assigned to offices, including this role in Singapore, are generally expected to spend at least half their working time each month physically present in the local office or interacting with users. Specific attendance requirements may vary by role and team, with some teams mandating full-time office presence to support workflows and customer needs.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this position at the primary location is SGD 122400 to SGD 183600. Variations may apply based on location and role specifics. Compensation may include base salary, equity, performance bonuses, retirement benefits, health coverage, and wellness stipends.
