Role Overview
The Learning and Programme Delivery Assistant is a vital part of the Arts, Culture, and Lifelong Learning (ACLL) Team, dedicated to delivering meaningful library programs and experiences tailored to the needs of local communities. This role involves collaboration with a diverse and passionate ACLL team focused on community service across Selwyn Libraries.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing frontline customer service with a focus on educational opportunities.
- Coordinating library programs for all ages, including preschool.
- Managing resources and promotional activities related to programmes.
- Supporting community access to various services such as Heartland Services.
- Building and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders.
- Occasionally working across multiple library and service centres within the district.
Working Conditions & Schedule
- Position is full-time (40 hours per week) and fixed term until November 2027 due to parental leave cover.
- Standard weekly schedule: Monday to Wednesday 9:45am to 6:15pm; Thursday 11:45am to 8:15pm; Sunday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
- Primary location: Lincoln Library and Service Centre, with occasional duties at Te Ara Ātea, Leeston Library & Service Centre, and Darfield Library & Service Centre.
- Appointment is conditional upon passing police vetting or Ministry of Justice safety checks.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum three years’ experience in GLAM sectors, customer service, or educational settings.
- Strong digital literacy skills and proficiency in programme delivery or training.
- Understanding of educational library resources and ability to assist with information retrieval.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptable to various learning styles and age groups.
- Dedicated to delivering high-quality customer service with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Possesses a First Aid Certificate.
- Holds a valid, unrestricted full New Zealand driver’s license and confident driving ability.
- Holds a tertiary qualification at level 5 or higher.
- Demonstrates respect for Te Ao Māori and commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
